A Very Special Extended Play Session
How often does a songwriter actually write a song, or at least the underlayment of a song, in front of an audience? That happened at Chris Smither‘s appearance at an Extended Play Session at Alternate Root TV a few weeks ago!
I will not divulge too much – after all, I want you to watch the show when it airs and be surprised – but when asked about his songwriting process, Chris not only described but also demonstrated his process. We were an incredibly lucky audience!I had not seen Chris perform in many years, and was excited that he would perform in this intimate setting.
Chris released a new album recently which remasters many of his iconic songs, and it has garnered some fabulous press for good reason. It is a fantastic compilation of a long career.
Chris performed a number of his best-known songs, including the crowd-pleaser ‘No Love Today’. You can’t go wrong with a song that includes the lyric ‘I got okra, enough to choke ya’!
If you enjoy smart lyrics, check out one of Chris’ live performances; I do not think you will be disappointed.
My apologies for a shorter-than-usual review; almost a month has passed since this show and I have seen many shows between then and now. Do not infer anything from the brevity – I loved Chris’ show.
