Be Part Of This Americana Show

On Saturday, October 17 at 8pm, singer-songwriter Alastair Moock teams up with members of The Swinging Steaks for a night of shared tunes between two of the Boston’s most stalwart practitioners of Americana.

The concert takes place at Medford’s reinvigorated Chevalier Theater as part of its new “On Stage! Concert Series.” The theater is located at 30 Forest St. Tickets are $17 and are available through the link to the Theater above.

The Boston Globe calls Alastair Moock “one of the town’s best and most adventurous songwriters” and The Washington Post says “every song is a gem.” Twenty years into his songwriting career, Moock has managed to carve out a unique niche for himself: He is an artist committed to celebrating the roots of American music while knocking down the walls between different audiences, styles and traditions.

For the past several years, Moock has focused his recording efforts on albums for kids and families, earning him two Parents’ Choice Gold Medals and a 2014 Grammy Nomination, but he’s never abandoned his ‘grownup’ roots. The upcoming concert is a chance to see him get back to the original compositions and traditional material that first brought him notice in the Boston area.

The Swinging Steaks have been purveyors of quality ruckus in Boston and throughout the country since the late 1980s. Their second album, “Southside of the Sky” (1993, Capricorn Records) introduced them to a national audience with two top ten AAA radio singles and appearances on Late Night with Conan O’Brien and NPR’s Mountain Stage. Creem Magazine calls them “the best country-rock out of Boston since Harvard student Gram Parsons put together his International Submarine Band.”

About suze72

I've loved the arts all my life... I go to a lot of concerts, take lots of photos and want to share them. Every once in a while I do something other than a concert, too. The Boston area is full of opportunities to indulge my passion - I'd like to help make it yours too!
