The Silks Are Bringing Their New Album To The Fallout Shelter

Rhode Island based The Silks are making their début at The Fallout Shelter at The Extended Play Sessions in support of their new album, Turn Me On.

I have had the privilege of seeing this band several times and enjoy them more each time.

Their new album is fabulous! I find it impossible to sit still while listening to it, but when I’m listening at work I have to do so and it’s frustrating!!!

Tyler-James Kelly, lead singer and guitarist, has a distinct voice that seems to adapt to any style; in The Silks, the music is bluesy, rocking, and smokey and his voice is ideal for it.

The music really does speak for itself. Much of the album is more rock than blues, and you’re going to want to dance to it. I think my favorite cut on the album is ‘Rollin’ Wheel’ – at least the last time I listened to the album!

In ‘All Day’ the line “All day, honey I was born this way” could become an anthem for some of what is happening politically in the US at the moment. Regardless of whether that was in the writer’s mind at the time, I like what it says.

The Silks are favorites on the music scene all over New England and sell out their shows easily. Let your ‘freak flag fly’ as it says in ‘Live and Learn’ and come see this show!

“We’re kicking off the holiday season with POWER!! Maximum BLUES ROCK Explosion with The Silks on December 1st at 7pm!

“The Silks are a rock and roll band out of Providence, Rhode Island. You could say The Silks are THE rock and roll band from Providence, but then you wouldn’t exactly be asking the cool kids. You’d need to dig a bit deeper than trends. The Silks exist outside of The Hipsters bearded rat race.

“The sound is classic power trio of the blues-based variety. You know, The Devil’s music. You’ve got guitar pyrotechnics galore from frontman Tyler-James Kelly. Chicken-pickin’ or taking a soaring lead break, it’s quickly apparent Kelly’s on a whole ‘nother level. It makes you wonder just when did he get his first real six-string. Then there’s the voice. Ballsy, bluesy, however you want to describe it, it just sounds like ripping a telephone book in half and feels like scratching a really good itch. The rhythm section of Sam Jodrey on drums and Jonas Parmelee on the bass guitar chug-chugs and chop-chop-chops along. Fast songs, slow songs, it doesn’t matter. It’s always all about the dance floor. The dance floor reciprocates.

Here is an official video of “Live and Learn“.

“After releasing their Paul Westerberg produced début album, “Last American Band” at the tail end of 2013, The Silks continued building on their following with constant gigs. All kinds of gigs. With a work ethic as old-school as their whole vibe, most of their shows are of the “all nighter” variety. Two sets. An hour and a half each. Only, they’re playing original music. Who does that these days?”

This is WHY there’s a Fallout Shelter bringing new and exciting music to the world and to that little slice of Boston that knows about this little GEM of a place! Thursday Night will be SPECTACULAR! Bring your dancin’ shoes!

This is a unique venue with very limited seating for just 55 lucky souls; every seat is no more than 25 feet from the stage. There is also enough room to dance, if the spirit moves you!

No flash photography or professional video cameras are allowed but you may take photos during the show… just turn off your flash and silence your cameras/phones.

We’re fortunate to have The Silks grace the stage and space is filling up very quickly. If you are interested in attending this event on Thursday, December 1st, there is still a small number of seats available and will be confirmed via email. Doors are at 6:00 pm with the show at 7:00 pm and you can be included by contacting them via e-mail at studioconcertseries@gmail.com. I've loved the arts all my life... I go to a lot of concerts, take lots of photos and want to share them. Every once in a while I do something other than a concert, too. The Boston area is full of opportunities to indulge my passion - I'd like to help make it yours too!
