Wonderful Additions To The Newport Folk Festival Lineup!
The past two weeks of lineup announcements by the Newport Folk Festival has been incredible, with the addition of one of my most favorite musicians as well as artists who are on my list to see and collaborations that are going to be fantastic!
The announcements made over the past week are:
Moses Sumney – I like the sound of this soul/folk musician and am excited to welcome him to the Fort!
Hiss Golden Messenger – I adore the album he released last year but have yet to see him.
Amanda Shires – I was not at all surprised to see this announcement – Amanda is quite an accomplished musician on her own who is also part of her husband’s band (Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit).
A Change is Gonna Come hosted by Jon Batiste and The Dap-Kings – This is one of ‘those’ collaborations that NFF is terrific at curating and I am excited to see what this brings to the Fort.
Sidi Touré – I do not know if Sidi is related to one of my favorite Malian musicians (the late great Ali Farka Touré) but I know that I love his sound,
Glorietta (featuring Matthew Logan Vasquez (Delta Spirit), Noah Gundersen, Kelsey Wilson (Wild Child), David Ramirez, Adrian Quesada (Brown Out, Black Pumas), and Jason Robert Blum) – I do not know all of the artists in the interesting collaboration, but I love those I do know so this should be fabulous!
The Wood Brothers – They are one of my favorite bands to see live, and seeing them at NFF is going to be amazing!
Langhorne Slim and the Lost at Last Band – This is the announcement I hoped I would see! Langhorne Slim is one of my very favorite musicians and I have not seen him in way too long. This is going to be superb!
Low Cut Connie – I have yet to see this band that a lot of my friends love, and now I will have the chance!
I plan to post the announcements weekly until NFF has completed the entire lineup. At that point, I might offer my opinions on which acts to see, once I know who is performing which day.
At this point, the Festival is sold out; the right way to try to purchase a ticket is through their fan-to-fan ticket exchange. Get yourself on the waiting list – I know a lot of people who were able to purchase tickets last year through this site. This is an amazing festival – even going for one day is worth it. Get on the list now!!!
