Are The Newport Folk Festival Announcements Finished?
The Newport Folk Festival announced only one ‘act’ this week, which makes me wonder if the full lineup is now available.
The only announcement made over the past week is:
For Pete’s Sake – Chris Funk of The Decemberists and Black Prairie will again host this ‘act’ on the Museum Stage. Please welcome Jeff Davis, Lorraine Hammond, Joel Savoy & Jesse Lege, The Jones Family Singers and other special guests to For Pete’s Sake 2015.
I plan to post the announcements weekly until NFF has completed the entire lineup. At that point, I might offer my opinion on which acts to see, once I know who is performing which day and time. If I do, all I can say is YMMV. There are acts I have seen and love, and will not miss (Sturgill Simpson, The Barr Brothers, and Jason Isbell for a start). There are acts I have never seen but really want to see (Heartless Bastards, Leon Bridges, and Calexico). And there are others I have seen in the relatively recent past and thoroughly enjoyed, but will see another act instead (The Decemberists, Bela and Abigail, The Ballroom Thieves).
The Festival has been sold out for several weeks at this point.
