The Newport Folk Festival Added More Great Acts (And I Am Not Surprised)
The Newport Folk Festival continue its lineup announcements and – as expected – they are winners!
The announcements made over the past three weeks are:
Preservation Hall Jazz Band – I love these men and they obviously love NFF!
Del and Dawg (Del McCoury and David Grisman) – wow! I have seen them separately but together is going to be mind-boggling!
Lady Lamb – Aly plays her unique blend of indie folk and indie rock. I’m interested in seeing her without a band.
River Whyless – I know nothing about them but their description is a blend of folk and pop. Sounds interesting!
Radical Face – Another band about which I know nothing but I look forward to learning about him.
The Cactus Blossoms – Country music!
Middle Brother – woo hoo! I got turned on to them a few years ago but have never seen them live! They are wonderful!
Aoife O’Donovan – I have seen her perform a number of times in various iterations. I was going to be sad that I could not attend her Cambridge show next week, but now I am happy because I can see her here!
Matthew Logan Vasquez – Another artist about whom I know nothing but am excited to get to know.
I plan to post the announcements weekly until NFF has completed the entire lineup. At that point, I might offer my opinions on which acts to see, once I know who is performing which day.
This festival has been sold out for a while. If you go to the festival’s website, there is a place for people to re-sell tickets if you are interested in purchasing some from fans, not scalpers. This is an amazing festival – even going for one day is worth it.
