I was invited to photograph as much of Make Music Boston, part of the worldwide Make Music Day celebrations, as I could. Free events were scattered around the city as well as a few events in nearby suburbs.

I went to Boston Common to photograph a few sets during my lunch ‘hour’.  This is an annual event held on the Summer Solstice. Mark your calendars for 2018!

First I saw Tokyo Tramps, a local blues band who was unfamiliar to me. This marvelous blues, roots rock, Americana duo consisted of Satoru Nakagawa on guitar and Yukiko Fujii on bass, with both singing. I will see them again.

Next I went to see some bucket drumming with Zeke Martin and Friends. Wow! Like most of you, I have seen people drumming on buckets on street corners, but I did not realize how fascinating that could be! There were up to seven people drumming during the long set. They demonstrated many styles of drumming using various implements, including an old cookie sheet! I walked away extremely impressed (and thinking about taking my djembe out of its case)!
