Reimagining The Band’s Stage Fright at 50!
I know I am dating myself when I say that The Band was one of the bands I followed closely when I was in my teens. While Stage Fright may not be the album that many people choose as their favorite, it was (as the press release below states) a trendsetting album that contains many songs fans think of as quintessentially The Band.

That’s Right, Lowell Loves Lyle Lovett
For the fourth time in the past six seasons of the Lowell Summer Music Series, Lyle Lovett played to a sold-out (or nearly sold-out) crowd in Boarding House Park; three times with his Large Band and once with his smaller Acoustic Band.
I fall more in love with Lovett each time I see him. He is one of the classier musicians I have seen, in addition to being one of the most talented and generous.
We’re Not From Texas, Lyle, But We Want You Anyway!
Last weekend marked Lyle Lovett‘s third appearance at the Lowell Summer Music Series – twice with his Large Band and once with his smaller Acoustic Group. The Large Band graced the stage at Boarding House Park for this show.
I will take Lyle any way I can – he has incredible stage presence and (at least at his Lowell shows) obviously loves what he is doing. Overall, though, I prefer the Large Band because of the depth and range of the instrumentality. Read the rest of this entry
