A Blues Show I Sadly Missed…
On Sunday, August 10th, even though I was in New York I was unable to go to the Music Makers Blues Review (a project of the Music Makers Relief Foundation), which was part of the Americana Festival at Lincoln Center Out of Doors. There were a lot of interesting names on the roster, including several who were new to me.

How can you go wrong with a musician named Ironing Board Sam, who plays what looks to be a keyboard on an ironing board?
I listened to some clips of Beverly Guitar Watkins and I want to see her perform! She is 74 and looks awesome!
One of my favorite musicians – Dom Flemons – participated in this blues revue (as well as the symposium that was held).
New Yorkers, next year you need to attend some of these free shows. There were a lot of fabulous musicians – many of whom I have paid to see – Emmylou Harris, Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires, Old 97’s, and more. I might even have to take some vacation time to attend!
