Alternate Root TV Presents Another Evening of Blues
Alternate Root TV announced that blues artists Fife and Drom (no, that’s not a misspelling) will be in the studio for an Extended Play Session on Tuesday, November 18th at 7 pm.
“Fife and Drom is the musical brainchild of husband and wife team Mark Marshall and Abby Ahmad. Though the couple grew up as neighbors in a tiny Pennsylvania town, destiny arranged their first meeting, oddly enough, over two decades later at the ‘Crossroads Cafe’ in Brooklyn, NY. One might say their collaboration was fated. The duo pen original songs inspired by the works of blues pioneers Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Jimmy Reed, Son House and beyond. Their name pays tribute to fife and drum blues music, a highly influential genre which emerged from Mississippi, the heart of Delta blues, as well as a nod to the dutch word ‘drom’, meaning ‘a group moving together with purpose’. With a voice reminiscent of blues greats like Helen Humes, Bessie Smith or Sippie Wallace, Abby Ahmed has created a sound that is both rich in history and beautifully contemporary.”
Here’s a look at Fife and Drom.
Fife and Drom will be sharing their music with The Alternate Root as they grace the stage on Tuesday, November 18th at 7pm to film The Extended Play Sessions. Doors are at 6pm with the show at 7pm. You can be included (for a $25 donation) by contacting them via e-mail at studioconcertseries@gmail.com.
Alternate Root TV is located just 25 minutes from downtown Boston and has free parking right outside the doors! The donation includes good food and an open bar! Oh, you and about 36 other people will receive a poster that the artist will sign to hang on your wall! How can you go wrong with that???
