There is a venue near me, Kai’s Music Garden, that opened on March 9th; I was lucky enough to be at the first show which featured TR3 (Tim Reynolds, Dave Matthews’ guitarist).

The venue is in the middle of an organic farm (Kai-Kai’s Farm) with a permanent stage, screened-in concrete-floored room where the food vendors set up, and a bar. Oh, and a fire pit! The stage faces east so we can see sunsets in the background (I know this from subsequent visits – the sun had already set by the time this show began).

Considering this was the first show, I expected some glitches but there were none! Good food, good people, good vibes, and great music! What more could I want from a venue???

Opening the show was Mike Zito and the Wheel, who thrilled the audience. I have a feeling not many had heard of him (although I had seen him several times before this show), and I believe he gained many new fans.

If you live in the Stuart, Florida area (and even if you’re further afield), do yourself a favor and come to a show at Kai’s. I already think of it as my little slice of heaven down here. The prices are reasonable (and are less expensive than other venues), the food and drink are excellent (and also less expensive), and you get to sit under the stars!
