RIP Mike Ledbetter, 1985-2019
I was devastated by the news of Mike Ledbetter‘s untimely death at the way-too-young age of 33 last week. My heart breaks for him, his family and friends. I am fortunate to have been able to call him a friend…
Anthony Geraci Delivered Chicago Blues To A Delighted Audience
The Fallout Shelter at The Extended Play Sessions was stuffed to the gills for this CD release show by Anthony Geraci and the Boston Blues All-Stars, and not a soul left disappointed in this amazing performance by Boston-based blues royalty.
The album, Fifty Shades of Blue, released the day of this show and the excitement – both from the audience and the band – was palpable as they took the stage.
Lil’ Ed Is Little Only In Stature
Lil’ Ed Williams, the leader of Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials, may be lil’ in stature but he is a powerfully large ball of energy when he performs. When I saw him on the schedule at Regattabar, I knew I would be in the audience.
This was my first time seeing him live, and all I knew was to expect to hear Chicago blues.
Regattabar was a Roomful of Blues!
I had not seen Roomful of Blues in about twenty years, and even though the members of the band have changed in that time, the band’s roots are the same. Their recent appearance at Regattabar showed that they continue to be worth seeing.
What a history Roomful of Blues has! Founded 48 years ago, this Rhode Island based band plays horns-heavy Chicago blues with swing and Cajun mixed in for good measure.
