Cory Branan Deserves Your Attention
I first heard Cory Branan at an AmericanaFest event last September. I had no idea who he was at the time, but thoroughly enjoyed his all-too-brief set. His style is not easy to categorize; rock, punk, even alt-country are some that come to mind, but Cory is first and foremost a songwriter.
Luckily for me – and for you should you so choose – Cory is appearing at Thunder Road in Somerville on Thursday night (an early show so those of you who have tickets for other shows can do a double-header as I plan to do). Tickets are available here. This is a CD release show; officially the new album ADIOS releases the following day.

Ruby Rose Fox Is A Must-See Up-and-Coming Artist
There is a Boston-based singer-songwriter named Ruby Rose Fox. Do not forget her name because she (along with her backing vocalists, the Gloria Steinems) will be a big star in the not-too-distant future.

Ruby Rose Fox
Described as a vocal powerhouse of soul-driven edgy rock ‘n roll, Ruby stuns a crowd when the first notes pour from her mouth. The first time I saw her, without having heard any of her music, my jaw dropped and I was hooked.

Classic Rockers At Their Finest!
It can be risky to see aging rock stars perform; they might be playing guitar with arthritic hands, or their voices (which naturally change as they age) cannot hit the notes they still try to hit. Neither could be further from the truth for Peter Frampton, who appeared at the Lowell Summer Music Series last weekend.

This Was A Terrific Rock Show Under Starry Skies!
The Lowell Summer Music Series is an outdoor – weather permitting – venue, and local favorites Guster wanted this show to be outdoors. Their wish was granted due to wise weather-watching by the people who run the Series. What started off as a terrible afternoon ended up as a perfect evening under the stars.

Guster
This was my first time seeing Guster, despite the band’s numerous shows in the Boston area over the years they have been together.
Here Is Something I Have Gotten Behind
One of the bands I have most enjoyed seeing at The Extended Play Sessions, The Get Right Band, is in the middle of a Kickstarter campaign to produce their next album.

An Evening Of Singer-Songwriter Bliss
How lucky was I to be able to attend a house concert presented by the fabulous songwriter Laurie Sargent! And to be able to walk to it!

Laurie Sargent
I walked into the house and was immediately greeted by long-time friends and fans of Laurie, and thought that was a good sign.

1970s (And Beyond) Rock Is Alive And Kicking
Playing to a nearly sold-out crowd at the Lowell Summer Music Series, Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo delivered a fabulous, high-energy show that certainly wowed me!
I am not sure what I expected from this 35th anniversary plus one tour, but the show exceeded any expectations I may have had!
