It Was A Good Night for (Mostly) Traditional Bluegrass

Last summer, I enjoyed seeing The Gibson Brothers at the Freshgrass Festival (an amazing bluegrass festival, for those of you who are interested) so much that when their recent show at Johnny D’s was announced, I knew I had to see them again.

First Time Seeing Flamenco Live And It Will Not Be The Last

I knew nothing about Nino de los Reyes at the time I decided to see his show at Regattabar, but wanted to try something a little outside my usual wheelhouse. This was one of the highest-energy performances I have ever seen!

Walking into the club, I immediately noticed a special dance floor in front of the seats for the musicians. Whether the flooring was necessary to protect the venue’s floor or to provide a more staccato sound to his dancing (or both), it serves its purpose well.

Seminal Jazz Guitarist John Abercrombie Enthralled

I knew John Abercrombie‘s reputation but had never seem him perform, so I jumped at the opportunity to see him at Regattabar last weekend.
