Dueling Banjos, Bela and Abby Style
Béla Fleck is one of my favorite performers; I have seen him many times in a number of iterations, including a show with the Sparrow Quartet, Abigail Washburn‘s band which included Béla.
This show at the Stockbridge Theatre at Pinkerton Academy was Béla and Abby and their banjos, and it was a stunner! (Sorry, photography was not allowed; I am seeing them again in a few days, so I will probably upload some photos from that show here.) Read the rest of this entry
David Olney Rocked The 5 Spot
One of Nashville’s great session musicians, Sergio Webb, told me I should see David Olney perform if I ever got the chance. Not too long after that, I booked my trip to Nashville and was thrilled to see that David would be performing at The 5 Spot while I was there! Score!
David’s name was not familiar to me but I listened to some recordings, and knew that I would take Sergio’s advice and see this show. Read the rest of this entry
An Evening of Excellent Songwriting
Two young singer-songwriters, Sam Morrow and Emily Hackett, graced the stage at Alternate Root TV for an Extended Play Session last night.

Outlaw Country Will Be In The House At Alternate Root TV
Just as I was jonesing for a fix of Nashville, Alternate Root TV announced that North of Nashville will be the guest artist at an Extended Play session on Friday, September 20th at 7 pm.

Ten years ago, I would have told you I did not like country music. Two weeks ago, I voluntarily went to Robert’s Western World, the most authentic honky-tonk in Nashville, and had a terrific afternoon there!
I was advised by a number of Nashvillians that Robert’s is the only honky-tonk that natives visit because it is the only one that still delivers authentic and traditional country music. Naturally, I headed straight for it when I was in The District.
Triple-Header Singer-Songwriter Show
This summer, the Lowell Summer Music Series presented a few new types of shows for us. One of them, a slate of three singer-songwriters, was held on another glorious evening last month. Heather Maloney, Adam Ezra, and Ben Taylor were the musicians we saw.
The show consisted of 45 minute sets from Heather and Adam, and 75 minutes from Ben. Adam was first to the stage.
Check The Ryman Off My Bucket List!
I am a very lucky woman indeed to have been able to see an icon like Merle Haggard perform at the iconic Ryman Auditorium!
As soon as I saw the concert announcement, I knew I had to grab a ticket quickly. It was good that I did because the two shows sold out very quickly. Read the rest of this entry
