Huge Fun With The Grand Slambovians

It was lightly snowing and getting colder as I made my way to Johnny D’s to see one of my favorite bands, The Grand Slambovians.

Introduced to them in 2010 when they were known as Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams, I have been following their antics (I mean musical accomplishments) ever since. I expected to have a fabulous evening, and I did.

The Howlin’ Brothers Deliver Foot-Stomping Good Music!

I was prepared to enjoy The Howlin’ Brothers at the Extended Play Sessions at Alternate Root TV, but I had no idea just how much! In fact, I enjoyed them so much I saw them a few days later at Atwood’s Tavern!

The Howlin' Brothers

The Howlin’ Brothers

The announcement for the show promised a foot-stompin’, loud hollerin’ show, and the Brothers delivered just that (with emphasis on the foot stomping).

Fabulous American Roots Music Triple Play

You would think I had enough music last weekend at the Newport Folk Festival that I might need a bit of a break, but you would be mistaken! I’m not sure I could ever hear too much Americana music, so I headed over to T.T. The Bear’s Place for this fabulous triple bill.

Spirit Family Reunion

Spirit Family Reunion

Two of the three acts I saw this night – The Deslondes and Willy Gantrim – were at Newport this year (although I did not see them except when they sat in for other sets) while Spirit Family Reunion, the headliner, was at the Festival the previous two years.
