Musician Chrissy Metz Embarks on Her First Tour
I am sure most of my readers know Chrissy Metz from her years as Kate on This Is Us but she is also a talented singer-songwriter who began her first tour last night at City Winery in Washington D.C. She graciously spent some time on the phone with me to talk about her tour and her music, which was a thrill for me.

That first show was awesome, Chrissy said. She loved sharing the stories about why she wrote the songs, and is so grateful that people are spending their hard-earned money to go to her shows. “If I touch even one person, it means the world to me.”
Childsplay Is Everything But That!
Silly me to think that Childsplay is a group of children playing violins, but that is exactly what I thought before sitting down to chat with Bob Childs, violin and viola maker extraordinaire, in advance of Childsplay’s tour this month. I am happy he set me straight about the ensemble as well as the craft of violin making.

Presenting Lisa Fischer, Background Singer Extraordinaire
Lisa Fischer, one of the stars of 20 Feet from Stardom, is performing at a benefit concert in support of Historic Newton on April 1st, and I was able to speak with her via email in advance of that concert (general admission is almost sold out – information about remaining sponsorship tickets can be found here). Historic Newton works to preserve objects and documents of importance relating to Newton history and runs two museums and the Burying Grounds.

The Ballroom Thieves Are Poised For A Breakthrough
I have a strong connection to The Ballroom Thieves – they were one of the first bands I reviewed on this website and the first that caused my views to skyrocket; they gave me my first in-person interview; and the first time I saw them perform was also the first time cellist Calin Peters played with the band. So we have a history, even though they did not know it!
From The Gulf Coast To Narragansett Bay
I had the pleasure of speaking about The Suffers with Adam Castaneda, the bass player for the band, shortly after their first appearance – on the Fort Stage, no less – at the Newport Folk Festival. I saw their set and absolutely loved them!
A Visit With Ian Anderson – Yes, That Ian Anderson!
I was almost giddy with excitement at my impending interview with Ian Anderson, scheduled during a break between legs of his current American tour (he is touring in support of his 2014 release, ‘Homo Erraticus’ – a wonderful album – I suggest buying it). Not only was it my first interview (although I feel it was more of a conversation) but I would be talking with rock royalty!
I admitted at the outset that it was my first time interviewing anyone and that admission seemed to set me free to relax and enjoy the process, and enjoy it I did! Ian did an amazing job of making me feel at ease.
