Final Show Announced For The 2015 Lowell Summer Music Series And It’s A Winner!
Booking the fabulous Warren Haynes is a coup for the 2015 Lowell Summer Music Series where he will appear on Saturday, August 15! This solo show (or at least not with Railroad Earth with whom he will tour this summer) is unusual and will be highly anticipated by all!
It Will Be A Celtic Sojourn At The Lowell Summer Music Series
Brian O’Donovan is bringing his A Celtic Sojourn roots and branches show to the Lowell Summer Music Series on Saturday, August 22! I have seen Brian, but have never seen Cherish the Ladies, one of the featured bands at this show.
Huge News From No Depression!
No Depression is all about celebrating roots: since the magazine’s founding in 1995, they have aimed the spotlight at both old and new roots music, bringing together voices of professional critics and regular listeners, as well as the artists themselves.
Grammy-Winner Shelby Lynne Enchants
Shelby Lynne may have made her name as a country musician, but her performance at Johnny D’s a few days ago showed that she is a versatile singer-songwriter who is firmly ensconced in the broader category of American roots music.
This was the first stop on Shelby’s tour to promote her new album, I Can’t Imagine, produced by Massachusetts’ own Rounder Records and released two days prior to this show.
Soaring Public Art Graces Boston’s Greenway
I love public art exhibits; they add much joy and surprise to those who see them, regardless of whether the viewer previously knew about the piece(s). One such piece is the new installation by Janet Echelman called ‘As If It Were Already Here’, installed over Boston’s downtown Rose F. Kennedy Greenway a week ago.
I took a walk last week to see it – luckily I had my camera with me at work.
Pink Martini? I’ll Take One!
My love for Pink Martini started almost twenty years ago when they released their first album, Sympathique. I did not see them perform until two years ago in a show that was in my top ten of 2013. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to see them again this week at The Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Providence.
This band (or is it truly a small orchestra?) is one of the most entertaining acts to see live. The two shows I have seen were quite different but equally wonderful.
Newport Folk Festival Line-Up Adds A Number Of Unknown Acts (To Me, At Least)
The Newport Folk Festival continues its lineup announcements and added some acts whose names are not familiar to me, but that does not matter! I look forward to being introduced to them.
One Of My Favorite Performers Is Returning To The Lowell Summer Music Series
Wow, for the second year in a row, Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue will be appearing at the Lowell Summer Music Series on Thursday, August 13! I see this band every chance I can, and this Series is perhaps my favorite place to see them!
