Come Hear Sweet Soul Music At The NEW Extended Play Sessions
The first show at the NEW Extended Play Sessions at the Fallout Shelter is on Friday, August 7th, 2015! It’s Gedeon Luke and The People!
Hailing from the streets of Memphis, soul music flows through Gedeon Luke’s veins in rainbow-colored hues. Weaned on the gospel infused sounds of Sly Stone, Curtis Mayfield and Al Green and inspired by the rock ‘n roll passion of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, Gedeon combines the greatest elements of the rich history of a musical upbringing to create a sound that is completely his own.
This Promises To Be An Exciting Weekend In Boston
Don’t get me wrong, I’m thrilled to be attending the Newport Folk Festival this year. I am, however, sad to miss these FREE events in downtown Boston that are happening simultaneously with Newport.
This will be the fourth annual Boston Summer Arts Weekend event. Set for July 25-26, 2015 at Copley Square in the Back Bay, the event features a wide range of eclectic performances. Can I mention again that it is all free?
Think Outside The Box!
Two years ago, Ted Cutler presented the first Outside The Box free performing arts festival in downtown Boston. I went to many of the performances, in part because I work downtown so I could sneak over for a long lunch but mostly because this was too good an opportunity to miss.
That year, the performances spread across nine days and two areas (Boston Common and City Hall Plaza). This year, the event will begin on Tuesday evening, July 14 and run through July 19. All events will take place on the Boston Common.
Share An Evening With Willy Porter
Please come for a very special fundraising event on Saturday, July 11th at 9:30 pm (the early show SOLD OUT!!!) with spectacular Weasel Records recording artist Willy Porter!! Don’t miss this rare show. The venue seats a small audience, so the experience is up close and personal. Unfortunately, I am unable to attend and would love it if some of my readers could go in my stead.
Willy Porter has been a featured performer on both Shrewsbury Media Connection‘s Mostly Rock ‘n Roll program several times, and has played other sold out concerts at SMC to enthusiastic and grateful audiences.
A portion of all ticket sales goes towards SMC’s Nicholas J. Todisco Young Filmmakers Scholarship. You can order tickets here.
Plenty of free parking available in lot shared with Parker Road Preschool. Read the rest of this entry
