Joe Ely Crosses Genres
Joe Ely is another artist whose music I know but not well; I had wanted to see him, either solo or with The Flatlanders, for a while but always had conflicts. I was thrilled when some local solo acoustic shows were announced AND I could get to one of them!
I’d been told Joe ‘never disappoints.’ Not only did he not disappoint Sunday night at Bull Run, but he surpassed any expectations I had. Read the rest of this entry
Delbert Gave It Up For Our Love
Friday night, I saw a fabulous blues musician who I’d never seen perform – Delbert McClinton.
What a performer! It was obvious to me that he’s a seasoned musician who enjoys what he does. He appeared to love playing at Bull Run, which is an intimate venue. The stage is a mere inches off the floor and the tables start close to the stage which makes it easy for the artists to engage the audience. Read the rest of this entry
Get Into a New Orleans Groove with The New Orleans Suspects
What a night of great music by The New Orleans Suspects at Johnny D’s on Thursday night!
The name of the band may not be familiar to you yet, but their pedigrees should be. Read the rest of this entry

First Weekly Show Announcement
I thought I would start a weekly post listing concert announcements for the Boston area that I received during the previous week. Of course these are shows that I find interesting or artists I think you, my dear readers, might like. I do not intend the list to be comprehensive – for that, you should get yourself on the email list for Ticketmaster, Live Nation, and Bowery Boston, to name a few. Venues you like generally have email notifications as well. Read the rest of this entry
Excellent Ticket Friday!
Friday is generally the day of the week when most new concerts go on sale, and today was no exception.
One of my favorite performers, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, is finally going to be back in Boston doing a headlining show! He’s at House of Blues on January 18,2014. Yes, my first concert tickets for 2014 are now in my hands!
A new favorite, The New Orleans Suspects, is going to be at my favorite small venue, Johnny D’s, on Thursday, November 14. The band is composed of members of The Radiators and Dirty Dozen Brass Band, to name a few, and they are awesome performers. I was introduced to them at a New Orleans music festival last summer and hoped they would add a Boston area show to their fall tour.
These are two amazing New Orleans based acts that you should see! Maybe I’ll see you at the shows!
