Fabulous Americana-Roots Band At The NEW Extended Play Sessions
We have had great bands and unforgettable moments at The Extended Play Sessions and Monday, August 17th will add to the aura as we host one of the best touring American Roots Music acts in the country, The Black Lillies!
Come Hear Some Swinging Blues At The NEW Extended Play Sessions
Next on the schedule at the NEW Extended Play Sessions at The Fallout Shelter is Erin Harpe and The Delta Swingers on Thursday, August 13, 2015!
Come Hear Sweet Soul Music At The NEW Extended Play Sessions
The first show at the NEW Extended Play Sessions at the Fallout Shelter is on Friday, August 7th, 2015! It’s Gedeon Luke and The People!
Hailing from the streets of Memphis, soul music flows through Gedeon Luke’s veins in rainbow-colored hues. Weaned on the gospel infused sounds of Sly Stone, Curtis Mayfield and Al Green and inspired by the rock ‘n roll passion of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, Gedeon combines the greatest elements of the rich history of a musical upbringing to create a sound that is completely his own.
A Special Evening With A Couple Of Singer-Songwriters
There was a lot of emotion at The Extended Play Sessions last week when Ian Fitzgerald and Brian Carroll, Boston-based singer-songwriters, performed although I doubt any of us in attendance had a clue about it.
Ian and Brian have separate careers but they came together this night to perform both alone and together.
The Spirit of Hank Williams Lives!
Girls Guns and Glory, a Boston-based country band, is riding high these days due to the justifiably great press its Hank Williams tribute album (and the shows dedicated to that album) is receiving. The Extended Play Sessions hosted them for a more-than-sold-out session last week and they brought their A game for this Hank Williams tribute performance.
The band performs original songs as well, and until recently had performed the tribute shows only about a half-dozen times per year. I was lucky enough to see one of the traditional New Year’s Day shows so I knew how good this show would be.
Help The Extended Play Sessions Grow!
The Extended Play Sessions is raising funds for a new studio. Here’s an explanation of the mission; at the end of this article, there appears another link to the fundraising page. I would personally appreciate any donations my readers choose to make.
“The Extended Play Sessions exists primarily for one major purpose: to provide a format for musicians to collaborate with my team of video artists in documenting a live performance that delivers an authentic experience of creative connection to an ever-expanding community of music fans around the world.
Writer-Songsinger Amelia White Brought It On
I was introduced to Amelia White and Sergio Webb almost a year ago when the East Nashvillians came to The Extended Play Sessions for the first time, so I knew that their return visit would be fabulous.
For this show, they brought the Blue Souvenirs with them which added immeasurably to the show.
Funk/Reggae Rocked The House!
This was not the first time The Extended Play Sessions hosted The Get Right Band, a funk/reggae/rock trio from Asheville, North Carolina, so we knew to expect a dance party. Little did we know that more people would be on their collective feet for most of the show!
As I write this, knowing the band will return in the fall for a third show, I feel that The Get Right Band is our ‘house’ band. We are all comfortable with one another and that is evident in their performance.
The Beehive Queen Captured Our Hearts
We gathered at the Extended Play Sessions for a special event – Christine Ohlman and Rebel Montez performing at a fundraiser for the space to which The Extended Play Sessions is moving. What a fabulous (and hopefully successful) evening was had by all!
Christine had the audience exactly where she wanted us from the first notes that emanated from her mouth!
