The 2016 Newport Folk Festival Lineup Announcements Have Begun!
The Newport Folk Festival started its lineup announcements last week and the initial ones are winners!
A Concert Worth Traveling To See
This is an event worth traveling to New York City to see – a tribute to Lead Belly at Carnegie Hall! Of course any event at that revered venue is worth seeing, but I think this one is going to be spectacular!

Tickets are still available through Carnegie Hall. Concert proceeds go to non-profit organizations The Association to Benefit Children and Project ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). You can go hear amazing music and help some great causes.
Janis Joplin Has A Little Piece Of My Heart
There is a new film about Janis Joplin, the extraordinary vocal star of the 1960s who tragically died at the young age of 27, called Janis: Little Girl Blue. I was privileged to attend the Boston area première of the film at the Regent Theatre in Arlington, preceded by live music and followed by a question and answer period.

An Evening Of Singer-Songwriter Bliss
How lucky was I to be able to attend a house concert presented by the fabulous songwriter Laurie Sargent! And to be able to walk to it!

Laurie Sargent
I walked into the house and was immediately greeted by long-time friends and fans of Laurie, and thought that was a good sign.

Come To The Extended Play Sessions And Enjoy Some Rock ‘n Roll
The Americans will be our guests for The Extended Play Sessions on Sunday January 24th. We are privileged to have another evening of incredible music for The Extended Play Sessions!

It just keeps getting better!
Here Is A New Face On The Soul/Blues Scene
There is a new, powerful voice on the rise in both the Boston and national soul and blues scenes and her name is Julie Rhodes. I have been privileged to see her twice in the past month at Atwood’s Tavern, but she will not be playing tiny venues for much longer.

Julie Rhodes
This review combines both shows, especially since the lighting (and thus the photos) was better the first time I saw Julie.
