An Amazing Start To An Incredible Festival
What an auspicious start to the most incredible music experience I think I have ever had! I have read comments by many who felt that this was the best Newport Folk Festival they have attended, and I am quite inclined to agree. The rainbow over the bay says it all…
One of the most beautiful things about this Festival is hearing bands that become my new favorite band. Of course, there are a number of bands that are my new favorites! The Festival in general, and Jay Sweet in particular, do right by those of us who place our faith in them to find acts we will love.
The Ballroom Thieves Are Poised For A Breakthrough
I have a strong connection to The Ballroom Thieves – they were one of the first bands I reviewed on this website and the first that caused my views to skyrocket; they gave me my first in-person interview; and the first time I saw them perform was also the first time cellist Calin Peters played with the band. So we have a history, even though they did not know it!
From The Gulf Coast To Narragansett Bay
I had the pleasure of speaking about The Suffers with Adam Castaneda, the bass player for the band, shortly after their first appearance – on the Fort Stage, no less – at the Newport Folk Festival. I saw their set and absolutely loved them!
First Raw Ruminations On The 2015 Newport Folk Festival
I am still on cloud 327 after returning from three incredible days at the Newport Folk Festival. I want to get some of my feelings out – before looking at the 2,500+/- photographs I shot or doing too much talking about the Festival with my friends (which honestly has been hard to avoid). My usual, full review of each day with photos will follow.
More Hot Music At Green River
I woke up on the last day of the Green River Festival eager for more music – the previous day was so terrific that I needed more! Unfortunately it was a scorcher of a day and that caused me to not want to walk around more than necessary; all that meant was that I missed acts I wanted to see but still saw amazing acts.
This Promises To Be An Exciting Weekend In Boston
Don’t get me wrong, I’m thrilled to be attending the Newport Folk Festival this year. I am, however, sad to miss these FREE events in downtown Boston that are happening simultaneously with Newport.
This will be the fourth annual Boston Summer Arts Weekend event. Set for July 25-26, 2015 at Copley Square in the Back Bay, the event features a wide range of eclectic performances. Can I mention again that it is all free?
Hot Music And Heat Ruled Day Two Of Green River Festival
What a day of incredible music! The first full day of the 2015 Green River Festival had a fantastic schedule, as I have come to expect from this Festival.
Despite the unrelenting heat (which was worse the following day), people danced, paraded, availed themselves of the cooling tent, and generally had an amazing day.
