Another Amazing Artist Is Coming To The Lowell Summer Music Series
Angélique Kidjo, one of my favorite African artists (and one of my favorite artists, period) is coming to the Lowell Summer Music Series. She will appear at Boarding House Park on Sunday, July 14th! I have seen her several times (including last night at World Music’s CrashFest) and already cannot wait to see her again! I believe she is the first African musician to headline a show at the Series (many African performers have appeared at the Lowell Folk Festival over the years, however).

The Lowell Summer Music Series Adds A Fabulous Trio To The Lineup
I’m With Her, a trio composed of Aoife O’Donovan, Sarah Jarosz, and Sara Watkins, has been announced for the 2019 season of the Lowell Summer Music Series (okay, Sara Watkins appeared at the Series with Nickel Creek at one of that band’s last shows). They will appear at Boarding House Park on Friday, July 19th! I have seen this band several times and I think they are a fabulous addition to the lineup.

Luck Reunion 2019 – Here I Come!
The lineup for the 2019 Luck Reunion, held outside Austin, Texas during South by South West, was announced yesterday and as always it is amazing! Personal favorites include Willie Nelson, Steve Earle, Langhorne Slim, Mavis Staples, and Nathaniel Rateliff.

Other artists I have yet to, but have been wanting to, see include Low Cut Connie, Billy Strings, Yola and Sunny War.
Second Announcement For The Lowell Summer Music Series Is A Winner!
Another first timer to the Lowell Summer Music Series was announced – The Record Company – will take the stage at Boarding House Park on Saturday, July 13th! I have only seen this band once but thoroughly enjoyed the show and think they will be spectacular at this venue.

The Summer of 2019 – The 30th Anniversary Of The Lowell Summer Music Series – Starts Well!
First timers to the Lowell Summer Music Series – The Beach Boys – will take the stage at Boarding House Park on Thursday, August 15th!

RIP Mike Ledbetter, 1985-2019
I was devastated by the news of Mike Ledbetter‘s untimely death at the way-too-young age of 33 last week. My heart breaks for him, his family and friends. I am fortunate to have been able to call him a friend…

Gangstagrass Blew The Roof Off Hill Country BBQ!
Anyone who has been reading this website for long enough knows my love of Gangstagrass, the only hip-hop bluegrass band around (I think)! I had not seen them in a long time, so I traveled to New York to see them at Hill Country BBQ.

Gangstagrass
This was a special show because they were joined by a number of other musicians who added even more depth to the music than is always there.
Who Had More Fun, The Band Or The Audience?
I am not sure I can say it was not the band who had more fun at the Glorietta show at Brighton Music Hall this week. Many of you may not be aware of this collaboration, which was in the middle of its one-and-done tour, but they are a group of friends who happen to be extraordinarily talented musicians who decided to tour together for a short while. Oh, and release an album too.

New Music For Your Listening Pleasure
I was recently introduced to Impala, an instrumental band from Memphis. I’m thoroughly enjoying their sound and think many of my readers would as well.

The Final Round Of AmericanaFest Performers Announced
The final round of lineup announcements was made a couple of weeks ago (while I was on vacation). I am excited that some more friends and personal favorites are on the list! I already wish this festival lasted for six weeks instead of six days so I could see everyone I want to see!

Some of those friends/favorites are: Birds of Chicago, Charley Crockett, JP Harris, Rev. Sekou and The Lone Bellow (to name a few).
This is an amazing festival/conference. Even if you only purchase a wristband, it is still a terrific experience. The full conference registration, in my opinion, is money well spent because you can attend panel discussions and receive invitations to special events.
The text of the press release follows.
