Fly Rasta With Ziggy Marley!

Ziggy Marley is a reggae artist who can appeal to almost anyone, whether or not you’re a fan of reggae. He appeared at the Lowell Summer Music Series last week to open their 25th anniversary season, and it was a great way to start the summer!

As If Willie Nelson and Alison Krauss Weren’t Enough…

I had fairly high expectations seeing Willie Nelson for the first time and Alison Krauss and Union Station for (I believe) the second time, and the reality far surpassed them!

The Blue Hills Bank Pavilion is not my favorite venue (the sound is uneven at best), but even that was not enough to negatively impact the show. Read the rest of this entry

Local Folk Singer-Songwriter Performed A Lovely Set

Kris Delmhorst is fairly well-known in the local (Massachusetts) music scene, but I had not seen her perform until last week at the Extended Play Sessions at Alternate Root TV.

We Had The British Invasion; Here’s The Swedish Invasion!

I have been a fan of First Aid Kit, a duo composed of Swedish sisters Johanna and Klara Söderberg, from the time I first heard them over two years ago.

Country Twang Rocked The House

Ten years ago if you had asked me what kind of music I disliked, I would have answered, “country.” Now, I can’t seem to get enough high-quality country music (for me, the genre includes alt-country, country rock, country blues).

An Excellent Roots Rock Party Kickstarted The Weekend

The Bottle Rockets, a roots rock band currently based in St. Louis, is yet another band that did not get onto my radar during the past twenty or so years.

They have toured through New England over the past year but I did not have the opportunity to see them until their show this weekend at Johnny D’s. A friend whose opinions I value had an extra ticket so I jumped on it. Read the rest of this entry
