Loving Tribute To A Great Cuban Jazz Musician
It was only after I met Carlos Averhoff, Jr. that I realized I also knew his father (although not personally) – the great Cuban saxophonist Carlos Averhoff who was one of the founders of the Afro-Cuban jazz group Irakere. Carlos Senior passed away almost a year ago, and I was fortunate to attend a tribute to him at Florida International University recently.

Ain’t Nothing Like A Dance Party With The Mavericks
I cannot mince words – I believe The Mavericks is one of the best bands touring and releasing new music today, so I was thrilled to see them at Parker Playhouse last night. As always, I was not disappointed!

Jerry Dale McFadden
Their combination of country, Latin, and rockabilly styles is unique and I (as well as many others) simply MUST dance at their live shows.
Oklahoma Songwriter John Moreland Can Silence A Room
There are not many singer-songwriters who can silence a room the way John Moreland can. The audience at the Culture Room may not have been as quiet as I have experienced at previous shows of John’s I have attended, but they were much more attentive than audiences at many other shows.

People with whom I spoke before the show started did not know John and I told them they were in for a treat!
Yes? YES, please!
YES is one of those bands I listened to a lot back in the early 1970s. Their progressive rock style appealed to me and many of my friends, and I even saw them once then. Fast forward to 2017 and there are two versions of YES featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, Rick Wakeman which tour. I was fortunate to see this version at the lovely Kravis Center for the Performing Arts.

Trombone Shorty Rocked The Sold-Out Audience!
As some of you may know, I relocated to South Florida a couple of months ago (yes, just in time to evacuate for Hurricane Irma). Seeing one of my favorites, Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, at Revolution Live was an incredible way to start my inroad into the local music scene! I also finally saw Dumpstaphunk, a band I have been jonesing to see live!

Make Music Day In Boston
I was invited to photograph as much of Make Music Boston, part of the worldwide Make Music Day celebrations, as I could. Free events were scattered around the city as well as a few events in nearby suburbs.

I went to Boston Common to photograph a few sets during my lunch ‘hour’. This is an annual event held on the Summer Solstice. Mark your calendars for 2018!
Never Underestimate The Power Of Positive Vibrations…
Especially at the hands of Michael Franti & Spearhead, who appeared at the Lowell Summer Music Series last weekend.

Michael Franti
While the heavy rains forced the show to be held indoors, nothing dampened the spirits of either the band or the audience, who was on its feet before the show even began!

Trombone Shorty Plus Lowell Summer Music Series Equals A Winning Combination
It does not get much better, if at all, than dancing to the groove of Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue under the stars at Boarding House Park for the kickoff show of the 2017 Lowell Summer Music Series!

And what a way to start the season!
Great Young Americana Artists Close The Second Season Of OnStage! At The Chevalier Theatre
I had the opportunity to cover a fabulous show recently at The Chevalier Theatre On Stage! Series at which the members of all three Americana bands are friends! I have seen each band perform a number of times, but this triple bill was a rare chance to see them in one show.

Damn Tall Buildings
