Alternate Root TV Presents A Blues/Folk Legend!
Alternate Root TV announced that blues/folk legend Malcolm Holcombe will be the guest artist at an Extended Play session on Wednesday, October 8th at 7 pm.

A Freshgrass Kind Of Sunday
I was lucky enough to attend both full days (there is a small line-up on Friday evening which I was unable to attend) of the Freshgrass Festival in the Berkshires. Saturday was a long but fabulous day, and Sunday was no less than that.

Mind-Blowing Music at Lizard Lounge
This was the sixth time I’ve seen Club d’Elf this year at Lizard Lounge, and it was quite possibly the best – up to now! Okay, I am a bit biased because David Tronzo is a friend and whenever he appears with the band I try to attend.

I am in love with Gangstagrass! There, I’ve said it… This writer, who has seen a lot of bluegrass bands but never a hip-hop band, loves the hip-hop bluegrass that is Gangstagrass!

My First Day at the Freshgrass Festival
Where do I start about a day when I heard thirteen different bands (I know, there were 14 bands that day but I ended up leaving before the headliner started)?

As I wrote in my initial thoughts on the Freshgrass Festival, this is a well curated festival, featuring bluegrass, newgrass, psychograss, country, and everything in between. Some acts were well-known, such as Sam Bush and The Infamous Stringdusters, while others were not as well-known, like Cricket Tell The Weather and The Deedle Deedle Dees. Alternate Root TV announced that roots musicians The Howlin’ Brothers will be the guest artist at an Extended Play session on Tuesday, September 30th at 7 pm. Their music offers a modern twist on old-timey music.

What A Voyage With Eric Harland Voyager!
Eric Harland Voyager played to a sold-out crowd at Cambridge’s Regattabar earlier this week; this is a bit unusual for mid-week shows at this venue, and is a testament to the incredible musicianship of Eric and his quintet.

I love the name of the band North of Nashville that is based quite a bit north of Nashville in Portland, Maine. I also love the band!

Alternate Root TV announced that Americana/pop duo Wisewater will be the guest artist at an Extended Play session on Friday, September 26th at 7 pm. Even though Forrest O’Connor is not based in Nashville at this time, his roots are there.

Initial Musings on the Freshgrass Festival
While it’s fresh in my mind, I want to tell you a little bit about the fourth annual Freshgrass Festival, held each September in North Adams, Massachusetts at Mass MoCA (Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art). I have not had a chance to look at the 1,500 photos I took, so those will follow in my full review.
