2017 By The Numbers
Several years ago, a friend suggested I put together some statistics about my year in music. I am continuing the tradition once again, despite not seeing as many shows last year! At the beginning of the year I said I was going to slow down my concert-going and unfortunately because I was forced to relocate from a fabulous music city to one that is less so, I saw fewer shows than I had since 2013… Sad face…
Go out and hear live music! The musicians will be most appreciative! Your mental health will thank you too…

I knew about American Aquarium, an alt-country/rock band from North Carolina, but until a few months ago could not have told you that BJ Barham fronts that band. I received his début solo release, Rockingham, and knew I had to see him perform.

Anyone who knows me, or reads this website, knows how much I adore the Fallout Shelter (also referred to as the Extended Play Sessions). The venue had to close suddenly in December and it has been missed!

Make Music Day In Boston
I was invited to photograph as much of Make Music Boston, part of the worldwide Make Music Day celebrations, as I could. Free events were scattered around the city as well as a few events in nearby suburbs.
I went to Boston Common to photograph a few sets during my lunch ‘hour’. This is an annual event held on the Summer Solstice. Mark your calendars for 2018!

I never saw American Aquarium, the band in which frontman BJ Barham made his mark in the Americana genre, so I will not miss the opportunity to see him at the Middle East Upstairs on Monday, June 26th.
